The first Standard size GLOCK G22 in .40 Auto and the first compact size GLOCK G23 in .40 Auto are 2nd Generation GLOCK pistols. These pistols were the result of Smith and Wesson announcing production of a new pistol caliber, the .40 S&W cartridge at the SHOT show in January of 1990.
GLOCK Gen4 pistols feature interchangeable frame backstraps, (SF) short frame, to standard, to large size grip; reversible, enlarged magazine catch; dual recoil spring assembly; and new trigger system.
